For those who aren’t in the know, the Black Hippy movement has become one of the signature sounds from the new West Coast and is steadily gaining recognition. Spearheaded by budding star Kendrick Lamar, the Cali-based collective has provided a new brand of hip-hop to the masses and member Ab Soul adds the final piece to their puzzle with his latest effort, Control System.

Like his other Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) constituents, Ab’s unique flow, style and charisma sets him apart from most and it certainly shines throughout the entire cut. The Carson, CA native is giving fans and hip hop lovers alike the chance to hear his LP in its entirety before buying a copy via iTunes. After a few listens, you’ll realize that the record is well worth the money.
