Drop The Tape | The Cassette To iPod Converter
Ever wondered what to do with those old cassette tapes now that we’re in the digital age? Want to show your parents that it’s possible to let go of the past? Do you like being the first one of your friends to have the latest iPhone app, no matter fruitless it may be? Well the folks at Hammacher Schlemmer have the answers to all that and more with their latest gadget, the Cassette To iPod Converter.
For starters, don’t let the name fool you. Besides the device being modeled after a vintage walkman, it doesn’t just convert songs to your iPod but to your iPhone as well! OK, anyone could see that part coming, but it also converts to PCs and Macs by simply inserting a tape and pressing play. As if it wasn’t cool enough, you can even listen to the music by plugging in a pair of headphones or connecting it to a stereo system. Brilliant!
Of course you’ll need the corresponding app or software (which is included) in order to get things going and just like it’s classic counterpart, you’ll still need two AA batteries. I suppose the $80 asking price is their way of letting consumers relive the decade in which its retail value echoes, or I could just be giving them too much credit. Isn’t Christmas right around the corner?
