JJ DOOM :: Exclusive Mixtape
Beatmaker Jneiro Jarel and the ubiquitous DOOM (formerly known as MF Doom, or Metal Face Doom) have come together to form JJ DOOM. We APPROVE. The duo are providing a triple dose of heat with the release of a new mix tape today, which provides a compilation of tracks noted as the inspiration to their album Key to the Kuffs released mid-August on Lex Records. The JJ half of the project provided this very exclusive sampling on Dazed Digital, just before headlining at Bestival next weekend. One will be quite pleased.
Check it out here:
The majority of beats for the album Key to the Kuffs were made in New Orleans, with DOOM recording all of his vocals in London over a little more that a year’s time. The album also features work by Khujo Goodie, Boston Fielder and Beth Gibbons of Portishead. Sample the tracks, or purchase on iTunes.
Just last week, the duo also released a dope video directed by Ninian Doff for the superb track “Guv’nor”, which features trippy split screen imagery and complimented by stark industrial backdrops. This is what videos look and sound like when the music is actually good.
