Music: DJ Santiago Salazar – new from RBMA
Santiago Salazar (who also goes by DJ S2, among other monikers) hails from Los Angeles, but claims Detroit roots in the way of his love for house and techno and also his extensive deejaying experience. He brought his raw talent out to ‘The D’ in the early 2000’s to train with Mike Banks, label founder of the ubiquitous Underground Resistance. He mixed and edited several Underground Resistance releases, as well as remixed the mighty ‘Return of the Dragons’ and DJ Rolando’s ‘Aguila’. He released his own tracks under the aliases S2 and Seldom Seen and became a core member of the Los Hermanos and Galaxy 2 Galaxy live bands, using his DJ skills to control the flow and intensity of the live performances.
After releasing material under the UR label, Santiago began to tour around the world headlining sold out venues in Europe & Japan such as Liquid Room(tokyo), Berghain(berlin), Rex Club(paris) and Fabric(london). In addition, he also played large festivals such as DEMF(detroit) and Metamorphos(japan).
Santiago has recently relocated back to L.A. launching Historia y Violencia with partner Silent Servant which releases have been charted by Ben Klock, Speedy J, Kirk Degiorgio, Deetron and Jonas Kopp to name a few. Santiago has solo releases on Rush Hour, Seventh Sign Recordings and Berlin’s Macro Recordings. Santiago’s track “Santuario” was recently licensed for the 2012 Scion TC.
Just this week, the Red Bull Music Academy has released one of Salazar’s latest mixes which was recorded live in Barcelona at the Monkey Bar for their 2nd Anniversary. Check it out, and keep an eye out for more from DJS2 here at L|T|M.
